Cashmere-SDG Hub
Where this work connects to global goals.
This page maps themes already covered across Cashmere Futures — livelihoods, gender, fair value, traceability, and climate — to the specific UN Sustainable Development Goals they genuinely relate to.
A note on framing: this page shows where our existing content connects to relevant SDGs — it is not a claim of formal UN endorsement, partnership, or certification. Each connection links back to the page where that theme is actually discussed in full.
Relevant goals
01 — 05No Poverty
Herders and artisans currently capture a small share of final garment value. The direct-trade and cooperative models discussed on our Supply Chain page are aimed squarely at this gap.
Gender Equality
Hand-spinning in Kashmir has historically been — and often still is — women's work, done from the home. Recognising that labour properly is part of representing the craft accurately.
Decent Work & Economic Growth
Where value concentrates across the chain — and where it could be redistributed — is the central question our Supply Chain page's "transformation" notes are built around.
Responsible Consumption & Production
Geographical Indication protection — for Kashmir's pashmina and Nepal's Chyangra Pashmina alike — exists specifically to make authenticity and origin verifiable rather than just claimed.
Climate Action & Life on Land
Herding communities face real exposure to overgrazing pressure and a changing climate — resilience under these pressures is one of the themes we're actively exploring.
Working on any of these goals directly?
